DR. ARABIN® Tandem Pessary

Indication
Genital Prolapse (Grade 3-4)
Stress incontinence
Specific anatomic conditions

Category:

Description

The tandem pessary is composed of two securely connected cubes made of flexible silicone. It should be stored at temperatures between 0°C and 50°C, shielded from UV radiation, and kept away from reactive substances, gases, ozone, and mineral oil to maintain its quality and durability.

Application/Intended Purpose

The tandem pessary is designed for patients with grade 3-4 genital prolapse and/or specific anatomical conditions, particularly when a single-cube pessary is insufficient. Like the cube pessary, it relies on a vacuum effect for stability.

The non-perforated version offers stronger prolapse support but can be more challenging to handle, while the perforated version is easier to manage, allowing some drainage and reducing adhesion. Additionally, the tandem pessary can be beneficial for stress incontinence, with the lower cube providing targeted urethral support.

Note

The maximal uninterrupted period of application is 30 days(Class IIa). It is strongly recommended that the patient removes the devices every evening herself and insert it in the morning. The patient should be trained in self-management by healthcare professionals.

The product must not be used by other patients. Tandem pessaries must be inserted with thread towards the intruitus. The pessary is cleaned by running water without using any disinfectant.

Application and monitoring

The instructions are continuously updated based on published studies and post-clinical follow-ups.

The latest version can be found under Downloads / Instructions.

Pre-defined cube size combinations (0-5) for the tandem pessary are listed under Downloads / Product overview. The healthcare provider must specify which cube carries the thread—this is always the lower cube.
