DR. ARABIN® Hybrid Pessary soft

Category:

Description

Hybrid pessaries are new developments that are very patient-friendly due to their consistency and are therefore suitable for changing yourself, but still hold better than conventional pessaries due to their egg-shaped contour with concave suction cups, without widening the vagina.
The name “Hybrid pessaries” is based on two effects: Ventrally, the pessaries lie on the symphysis, creating a support function. Laterally, the pessaries are held in place by recesses built into the walls. Discharge or blood can drain centrally and patients can use tampons simultaneously. We developed the device for lesions of the levator muscle associated with an enlargement of the hiatus (avulsion).
In tensile force measurements, the hold of these pessaries was approx. 5 times higher than with conventional models.

Indication

Grade II-III prolapse (not for grade IV) and/or incontinence, e.g. if the cystocele is not held well laterally with the cube pessary and especially for younger women (permeability for menstrual blood), also approved for prolapse during pregnancy and pelvic floor dysfunction after childbirth.
The normal opaque version is indicated for heavy physical exertion (sport) and/or severe prolapse. The soft transparent version (“soft”) is indicated for normal physical life style, increased sensitivity of the vagina (e.g. after surgery/ childbirth) and less pronounced genital prolapse. CAVE: Always follow the instructions!

Intended use

These pessaries were primarily developed for early pelvic floor disorders caused by lesions of the levator muscle associated with an enlargement of the vaginal hiatus. The purpose is to support internal organs and relieve pressure and incontinence problems that also occur during pregnancy and the postpartum period or when other pessaries do not hold well or are not well tolerated.

Remarks

The maximum uninterrupted wearing time is 30 days (class 2a). However, we recommend to remove the pessary every evening and reinsert it in the morning. The patient should be informed by healthcare professionals about use, changing and any concomitant therapy.
It may be helpful to use different creams during insertion, which the doctor should explain to the patient.
The product may only be used on a single patient. The surface of the pessary should be checked before insertion. If cracks or discoloration are observed, the pessary should be replaced before reinsertion. The pointed end should lie on the symphysis, the round end towards the spine. The lateral tabs can be worn upwards or downwards depending on the effect and subjective experience. The pessary should be cleaned under running water without the use of disinfectant. To guarantee hygiene during self-management, we recommend or supply a box for storage.

Application and monitoring

The instructions are continuously adapted based on all studies and feedback from the post-clinical follow-up of our products.
